With the rapid development of scientific and technological progress and steel industries, the magnetic separator equipment in China has also rapidly developed and continuously obtained  breakthrough, whose application has been further promoted.

An important develop trend of permanent type weak magnetic separator is large scale. The cylinder diameter has developed from 600mm, 750mm to 1050mm, 1200mm, 1500mm. the length has increased from 2100mm, 2400mm to 3000mm, 4000mm. multi-cylinder in tandem has significantly improve the processing capacity. However, the most widely used equipment is still the e1050 type permanent magnetic separator. We also actively used the new high and permanent magnet material (NdFeB) to increase the number of poles. The additional poles and compound magnetic field further enhanced the performance of permanent magnetic separator, matured and expended the ranges of applications, especially in the process of magnetite beneficiation. It has greatly improved the iron ore concentrate grade and recovery, and got very good technical and economic indicators.

At present, the tailings discharged are about 400million tons to 500 million tons in China, accounting for one third of industrial waste. Among of them, the metal tailing takes for one forth, metallurgy and boiler slag take for 26%, chemical slag takes for 4%, fly ash and gangue take for 35%. The metal recycling process will use magnetic separator and other matched ore dressing equipment. The tailing slag recycling process adopts gravity separation and magnetic separation process, so that recycle iron ore from tailings. As for different metals in the tailings, we will use spiral chute, shaking table and strong magnetic separators with different specifications. For the time being, disk magnetic separator in weak magnetic field, big drum cylindrical magnetic separator in medium magnetic field and high gradient magnetic separator all have been applied to tailing recycling production. As an important equipment for throwing tailings in the concentrator, the large piece of ore dry-type permanent magnetic separator (magnetic pulley) continues to promote the use which plays an important role for the concentrating mills' energy saving.
